14/09/2022

September 2022 - To implement TR CU 025/2012 requirements on furniture safety, Russia has developed new standards for children's and school furniture and promoted standardization of children's goods. The requirements set out in the new standards are in line with modern ideas about anthropological data for preschoolers and help scientifically determine the dimensions of the furniture.

These standards also specify testing methods to objectively check the safety of children's furniture.

In addition, the adoption of standards helps to break technical trade barriers and improve the technical level and competitiveness of children's furniture.

The standards, developed by a working group under the leadership of the Children's Products Industry Association, are part of the activities of the Technical Committee on Standardization No. 181, Toys and Products for Children, and will take effect on January 1, 2023. The relevant standards are as follows:

GOST 26682-2022 Furniture for preschool institutions -- functional dimensions

GOST 19301.1-2022 Furniture for pre-school children -- Functional dimensions for tables
